Our Network Has Gone Stealth Mode

We've decided to actively hide our network from certain IP ranges and crawlers except for the major search engines to benefit all of us. We carefully thought about the pros and cons and in order to last as long as possible in this unpredictable SEO environment, we felt this was the right choice we made before we grow our network.

We have been seeing incredible number of crawler visits from third party crawlers like Majestic and Ahrefs lately. The more visits we get from third party crawlers, more scrutiny we'll face from our competitors and possibly risk being reported to Google.

We are hearing reports that some SEO companies are purposely reporting their clients' competitor site backlinks to Google. In addition, many webmasters are using disavowel service provided by Google which can trigger Google to possibly devalue all reported links. The more links people discover, the more risk we face.

We've been also getting tons of traffic from China. We suspect this is Government sponsored crawlers trying to steal any information and look for server weak spots.
Server load from crawlers and unwanted visits were causing frequent server crashes.

The above points are good reasons to hide the network but the downside is the reporting for clients as I am sure, many of your clients are watching the links via their tool.

In order to compromise, we'll add the links reporting tool in the admin. We'll however designate only a partial number of sites from our network to be used for reporting purposes.

Educating your client is always important in order to maintain a good relationship. Please inform that not all links will be reported to ensure protection of our network.

Thank you for having faith in our service.
